Sunday went to meet with him last night. One of the adults that was in the VFW/Bar tipped him off and so he called Sunday to find out what she was doing there. He told her that he was not going to play if she was there. She finally convinced him that we were not tryint to trick him and that we do not want him home until he WANTS to be home though we have to keep a runaway reporrt until for our own protection. I think she made a breakthrough. He is still not ready to talk to me yet and that is okay. Our goal is to maintain a relationship down the road. Anyway, I hope this helps.

Re: Sunrise in OKC

You will see Jordan on Christmas, trust me. Port 80! Ouch! That is amazing that they would go to that extreme but it does not surprise me. This is why I want to get a smart phone that has dependable Internet. I cannot access Twitter, Facebook, Twitter, Friendfeed, or any other social networking site. I just stumbled on a story on wired.com telling how the Air Force Network Operations Center has instituted a policy of blocking ALL URL's that contain the word "blog" in them. They admit that The New York Times is supposed to be reputable and you can go to those sites for information. No mention of the lack of objective reporting at the New York Times. http://blog.wired.com/defense/2008/02/air-force...

Yesterday we received two emails telling us we could not use the thumb drives. A third one quoted a regulation that said we can use them as long as we run the virus scan. This morning we had the above message on the screen with two more emails repealing the last email. It said we are not to use ANY removable media under any circumstances whether it is personally owned, or DOD issued. They said there will be no waivers issued. I was thinking "HOLY COW!". My whole office has been in an uproar over it all day. Although I do understand their concerns, surely there are more suitable ways to deal with these problems.

Re: Restrictions at Work

I had the same problems working in civil service with both the Navy and the Army. The Army was much more technology adapted than the Navy. The Navy at one time in an effort to block viruses and attacks on our networks issued an order to block port 80 on all firewalls. There goes the Internet, a self-inflicted denial of service. Up until I retired the Army still allowed the use of thumbdrives as long as they were govt. issued and scanned daily. All laptops had to be encrypted due to numerous instances of PII losses. Security is getting tighter and tighter at all DoD commands and operations vs security issues will continue to be a battle.

Re: I’m a TWiT!

I am a great fan of Leo Laporte and have followed him since his Tech TV days. I was unaware that Jordan had run away again. I am sorry to hear that. We will keep you all in our prayers. Thankfully, I never had to deal with that, but I did have to deal with being cut out of my son's (Anthony) life. That hurt more than I can say. Keep praying for him. Keep asking God to convict his heart, and His continued protection from himself and the forces pulling at him. He will come back eventually. I love you all.

Re: Out to the Zoo

Thanks Jordan... I am known for dealing with things with sarcasm and then regretting things I say later. I really was disappointed with today's game results.

Re: Sooner Fans Embarrassing Behavior

Of course it can be varied, I was just trying to point out that you can't say just a game, and constantly jab at Halzle like I've seen, and if you say it was just sarcasm, I accept that, but it honestly didn't seem like it due to the repeated comments. Thanks for posting my comment, I was worried you wouldn't. I'm glad to encounter people that can have an adult conversation without it getting out of control, like a lot of NCAA football conversations go.

Re: Sooner Fans Embarrassing Behavior

I've also seen comments from you calling for a certain player to be kicked off the team, but yet "It's just a game."

I was a poor attempt at using sarcasm to be humorous. I forget sometimes that in this type of venue sarcasm is not always received with the meaning it was meant. I apologize for that. Honestly for the record though, I do not think Halzle should be kicked off the team. I sometimes forget that some people take these games as more than games.

In the spirit of it being just a game, I do not think our Sooners are a number one caliber team. I think they are very good but I have been disappointed with their ability to move the ball on the ground and cover kick off returns. I am very proud of our team and their abilities bu I do think the better team won today. I do not say this as a slam on our team because I do think it is only a game.

As far as the perception of our fans, I am sure it is subjective. Maybe you have had good experiences with them but I have had some bad ones. I have had to work with supervisors that we had to wait and see how the game turned out to know how to approach them. Maybe I was painting with too broad a brush to say all OU fans are messed up but you would have to admit there are some that are over the top. I will give you this and say that I guess there are good and bad in every organization including ours.

Re: It’s Morality Stupid!

Great post!

Re: Sooner Fans Embarrassing Behavior

Great comments, and I agree for the most part. but the pokes and jabs at opposing team's fans is part of being a fan. Do these people not speak up for themselves? I've seen people that were fans for whoever didn't want to hear, all they have to do is speak up for themselves.

Yes, I am a huge fan to say the least. I have the OU sticker on my Jeep and the upside down longhorn under that. I have family in Texas and every time we go it's a fun trip to jab back and forth the people passing, that usually instigate it.

Your comments on fans as a whole bother me though, because I've talked to people from around the BigXII and almost all of them say how OU fans are the best fans they have ever interacted with, not that they are ignorant and annoying. I've also seen comments from you calling for a certain player to be kicked off the team, but yet "It's just a game." What if being a Sooner is this kids dream? What if this is the best time of his life? Just because you do not like the way he plays, which isn't all his lack of skill.

Re: A Question for Christians

Thanks T.J. It is frustrating to me that I get more heat from Christians than anyone else if I mention that anything is sin on my blog. I get the old "You are being too judgmental" story and it is getting on my nerves. Is there anything that is wrong except being judgmental? I am not saying to burn people at the stake but at least preach on what is to be expected by us. I get so angry when I go to church and they mention one of the hot issues of the day. Without hesitation they go for the throat at people in the church for being judgmental while failing to even mention that the topic at hand has anything wrong with it. I see it as pandering to political correctness and it is not helping anyone.

If the church is too scared to speak the truth then why are they even there? The world is going to criticize the church regardless so you may as well speak the truth. I am more upset at the church than I am the world because they can claim ignorance. The church can claim cowardice.

Re: A Question for Christians

I agree with you. Yes. There should be a "standard". My complaint over the last several years is that there is nobody who will "draw a line in the sand", stand up for what is "right" and what is "wrong". Even our spiritual "leaders" fall short on this issue which I believe to be morally fundamental.

Political Correctness continues to sink its talons into the heart of America, changing forever Her values, morals, and purpose.

I'm fed up with it.

Re: Happy Anniversary

Thank you! I am thrilled to see your honest thought process as you interacted with us tonight at LifeShare. It is a Christ centered and gospel driven idea - and we are really working hard to keep the focus on people moving in the love of Jesus, instead of an unhealthy focus on the "tools." Steve Jobs has a great quote from earlier in Apple's history that said the computer should just be like a bike. It doesn't replace human effort, but it exponentially applied it. That is how we view technology, that as we move in our faith let's use the tools that help that effort to be exponential.

Best!

-----------

Tony Steward
Online Community Pastor
LifeChurch.tv

Re: Bus Service in Oklahoma City

I did cut and paste it into the OKCTalk.com website located here... http://www.okctalk.com/okc-metro-area-talk/1380...

Thanks
